the unspoken words

by Calista Dirdja

We used to spend the night together.
The stories we told each other,
the silliness and the happiness we shared –
engraving the smile on our lips
and the laugh on our faces.

Sometimes we just savored in silence,
while I was pretty sure
it was the murmur in our hearts
and the thought in our minds,
wondering about what’s next going on?

In this stillness, I pondered,
do you feel your heart dancing while you’re with me?
because if you asked the same thing of me,
It does, like the ballerina who never stops dancing
in the music box that’s continually playing.

Then, we would break the silence
those might be uncertain, but I hope
our tongue wasn‘t stiff enough
to say what was truly wished to convey.

Yet, after all,
I guessed it didn‘t matter anymore
as deep down,
we‘ve already known
even if it‘s never spoken
what‘s the point of words-
when our eyes have shown

                                it all?
