solitude
by Calista Dirdja
The rustling of dry leaves
when I sauntered into the forest.
So satisfying as it was – I imagined
the fairies hiding behind the wind, and
the trickling water from the nearest spring
merged with nature’s choir.
The sunlight shined through
the quivering trees at long last
landed on my rosy cheek,
giving me warmth and solace.
Silence
unlike the world I used to live in,
I reveled in silence.
Now it’s the wind whistling,
the birds singing, and me alone.
If only everybody perceives
how peaceful it is to be alone
and with nature alone.
To myself, I murmured…
Everybody will be fond of solitude.
I sat quietly underneath a rain
tree.
At that moment I felt liberty.
And I let myself intertwined
with the world around me.
